[iyonix-support] Iyonix poor at connecting to internet.

Hi.

Does anyone know why my Iyonix is so poor at connecting to the
internet, yet the PC connected to the same router works fine without
any problems at all?

When I switch on the machine/router on from cold, I expect a time for
it to set itself up and then when the ADSL light is on that means it
should be ready to work. If I try to send/receieve news/emails it just
sits there and then times out, and if I try and use NetSurf to surf
the net, just get a blank page and then it times out as well.

The only solution seems to be re-booting the machine, and unplugging
the router and then in the end it may (or may not) finally connect, a
totally random attempt though, and sometimes it works straight away on
a cold boot up,

I am using Netsurf to browse, and Netfetch/Hermes for mail/news
sending/recieivng and Messenger Pro for emails.

Yet using the PC in the same situation, is totally different, switch
the machine/router on from cold, when the PC desktop appears, load up
Firefox, and the internet is there instantly, no faffing about there,
instantly ready to go, both machines through the same router and line
- I am using Orpheus Internet.

And it appears it is not just a cold switch on either, just now, both
machines been on all day and I had to reboot the Iyonix, and now it
won't connect to the internet at all, yet it was fine 10 seconds
before and the PC is still online no problems.

I've no idea what's happening here if it was the line or the router it
wouldn't work at all, but the PC works 100% and the Iyonix is
basically hopeless at connecting to the internet, if it wasn't setup
properly it wouldn't work at all either, so when it does connect shows
that setup is correct.

Maybe it's hardware related and the PC just does a better job of it,
or maybe there is something I could do with the Iyonix to make it work
better at connections?

Any suggestions/help on this greatly appreciated as it's becoming
increasingly annoying.

cheers
Matthew
