My office machine has also started having problems with the video card
since the weather got cold. Letting it warm up a bit and then rebooting
generally solves this. And there's a known fault with older motherboards
where the network chip can fail to start if it's cold.

Sadly there's no known cure except to wait for the weather to improve.
