Of course, software differences can make a difference too, although I've
found NetSurf to be pretty nippy - and downloads at the same speed as my G4
Powermac.

Yes. I'm on the Orpheus 8Mb service. However, BT only quote "up to 8Mb" so
you'd probably never get the full 8Mb. My line was only tested as working
up to 2Mb. Indeed, before I switched to 8Mb, they wouldn't let me even have
2Mb because I was too far from the exchange (although I'm about a mile as
the crow flies!), and could only have 1Mb.
