*sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.recvspace=<value>
(optionally -ew instead to write errors to Inet$Error)

See *sysctl -a (or even -A)

As David says, although bumping up the value to 65536 or similar may
make some difference it isn't going to be earth shattering.

Andrew: please can you remove the hard spaces from your Message-IDs? I
guess you have a hard space between Andrew and Pin in your username in
Messenger Pro.
