I have just taken delivery of an EeePC 901 running Linux which is very
intuitive to use and I had no trouble setting it up so that I could
communicate between it and my Iyonix. I plan to use it for my
genealogy research as it is small with a long battery life and I want
the EeePC to use & update information held on my Iyonix.

I created a directory/folder called Genealogy on the EeePC which was
quick & easy to set up for sharing on my LAN. Using Lanman98 this was
easy to access and read/write to from my Iyonix. It was also easy to
mount/access my networked backup disc on the EeePC which I also
read/write to from the Iyonix.

The intention is that the EeePC will fill in the gaps in the
capabilities of my Iyonix without involving Windows eg, a small
lightweight netbook with a long battery, use of the Firefox browser
where Netsurf has shortcomings and use of Star Office/Open Office for
reading & writing any MS Office files (Word docs where Easiwriter
can't cope, plus Powerpoint, Excel files, etc. ) & multimedia files.
