It happens that I just repaired an HP LCD monitor last week.  It had two
tubes: one top, one bottom.  I can't lopok up the model number as it
isn't here any more.

I agree with this.

A few years ago I had an H&S lecture that suggested we should be looking
straight at a point about 1/3 of the way down the screen.  A more recent
similar lecture recommended looking straight at the top of the screen.
I'm more inclined to agree with the later advice.  My monitor here at work
is a little higher than I feel fully comfortable with.

(As an aside, the small character display I used in my heating controller
assumes 6 o'clock viewing.  I guess this is because some of them are used
in a horizontal attitude, unlike monitors.)
