Unfortunately, correct:

The screen brightness is uniform if I sit (on axis) at an infinite
distance away. If i sit nearer and nearer, then the screen gets dimmer
and dimmer at the top, and brighter and brighter at the bottom. At
normal (on axis) reading distance of 18 inches (who reads a book at 5
feet?), there is pronounced darkening at top and a pronounced
brightening at foot of screen:-(

It does, however, become less pronounced after it has been on for 15
mins or more, but still very noticeable.

Moreover, the Menu button on the monitor does not put up the on-screen
OSD. [It might if I used it with a PC]. But in my opinion, a monitor
should be self-contained, integral, without reliance on a computer for
functions that it should have resident within it.

Paul: I don't know whether momentarily setting it up on a PC will then
ensure that the Menu button does then work with the PC switched off?
i.e. I wonder if connecting it up to a PC temporarily will make the
Menu button work permanently?
