That suggests that your MimeMap file may be wrong, or the MP3s had the
wrong RISC OS type to start with.

I presume you mean the two fields in the Rename window?
* Tick Recurse - Directories.
* Set the Prototype to ^./mpa (ie. 1 or more anythings, followed by /mpa).
* Set the Rename To to &1/mp3 (ie. what matched the ^., followed by /mp3).
