You would have to find a site with independent testing, even then the
difference it would make on an Iyonix would be smaller probably.
If a manufacturer has a dearer drive in the same size there may be
reason to think it is better, but again you might not see the
difference on the Iyonix.

Iyonix would need an adapter, and there would probably be no advantage.
In fact, some SATA drives are just PATA drives with a serial-parallel
adapter (bridge) built in to the drive. So it would be going
parallel-serial-parallel, why would you bother?

Mmm, quite good prices, I might look up that chap in Christchurch.

Good question, I think it would be unadvisable to have a non terminated
parallel cable in this way and wether a serial cable off an adapter
would be better in this respect, maybe.
There are adapters that have just the SATA connector, and others that
have the parallel as well.
The activities on IDE 1 may not affect IDE 2 but I dont know.
A Caddy system would allow uou to terminate a parallel cable with an
adjacent CD-Drive.
Caddy systems would probably be dearer, as you would need a cradle for
each machine you want to use the drive on. PC's are going to be SATA
more and more, native SATA drives are supposed to be faster, will
become mainstream and will probably become the cheapest to buy.
For my purpose of using one for a backup drive, it would also allow
future use on a SATA equipped machine where the speed is needed/used.
