Why not as my collegue here says, close the directory once you have
started
the deletion.

So what command do I use to delete multiple directories each with one
file in?

Two options:
Use a promt (F12) or in a taskwindow.
Use the wipe command. Something like:

wipe dumpdir* FR

(F for Force locked file and R for recursive. See 'Help wipe' at the promt).

The computer will ask you if it is OK to delete a file. Use 'Y' for Yes to delete it. If you see you are using the correct wildcharname use 'Q' for Quiet.

Other option:

In the filer select all the directories you want to delete. Start to delete them , as you told, this will take a long time because of window updates, but, when the machine is deleting the directories, close the window. Now there should not be a delay any more.

Good luck,

Peter
