[iyonix-support] Early warning?

When I re-organised the wiring jungle under my desk some time ago I must
have inadvertently omitted to plug in the power adaptor of the 4-port USB
hub I have, which has keyboard, scanner and mouse plugged into it. This in
turn is plugged into the rear USB socket of the Iyo.
The other day, while using the desktop in usual daily fashion (scanner not
in use), the mouse pointer froze. The keyboard was working normally.
Thinking there was some sort of problem with either the mouse itself or
perhaps HID, I re-booted and everything was back to normal for the rest of
the day. This happened again the next day and on this occasion I thought to
unplug the mouse from the USB hub and re-connect to the front USB outlets,
which fixed the problem. This prompted me to investigate, where I found the
power was being supplied from the Iyo and not the independent power supply.
Having plugged the hub power supply in, everything has been back to normal.
My question is: since the hub had been happily powering mouse, keyboard &
scanner for quite a while (weeks? months?) and then started failing - but
only the mouse, which is a Logitech optical one so presumably using more
power than a conventional wheeled one - is this perhaps an early warning of
the PSU failing?
The mouse is not new, by the way, I have been using it for a couple of
years now, and I have seen none of the other indications of PSU problems as
reported by others.
Any ideas?
John
