We had a new aerial installed a few years ago before digital, our area
wasn't officially in a digital area, the signal was on the edge (Not all
chanells available all the time, the signal had just deteriorated and we
were told wouldn't improve until 2012, we suffer more than others in the
area because of a tallish building in the way, we were told that we would
need a extra tall pole and large aerial that would cost well over £100 and
no guarantee how good the reception would be.

I had previously not wanted to spoil our house with a Satellite Dish but
then I saw an installation of an extra tall pole and large aerial and
realised it looked more of an eyesore than a dish descretly put on one of
our chimney stacks.

So all in all I had no real choice.

The downside of satellite is that it can disappear in heavy rain.
