USB is certainly another option, slightly cheaper and smaller than an NAS
but the downside is the time to MOUNT the drive and comparatively slower
transfer speed.

I wonder if anyone has test figuers to compare real life [1] data transfer for:
Internal Hard drive
10 base network transfers [2]
100 base network transfers [2]
USB Nard drives

It would also be nice for comparsion to include
54g
ADSL 2MB
ADSL 8MB
...

[1] Large files (i.e. to show maximum possible) and lots of smaller files.
[2] I wonder were the bottle neck is when transfering over ethernet to say
another Iyonix, RiscPC, Windows PC or NAS. I understand that LanMan,
LanMan98 and Sunfish get considerably varying results on the same hardware
path.

I believe Druck you have much of the above information, could you collate
what you have and publish it?

I'm thinking c.s.a.misc may be a better place to disseminate this.
