FYI: I have dealt with literally hundreds of similar cases of customers
with network issues.  IMCE, 90% of the problem is customer
misconfiguration, including something changed which the customer has
forgotten.

DNS working (and ShareFS) is not very surprising - this only requires
local routing on the LAN.   So, if he's using DHCP, then most likely
the DHCP server settings are wrong, or he didn't configure DHCP
properly.  As you've noted, this is a routing issue, with the default
route either missing or wrong.

The first thing is to have the customer triple-check his settings.  And
then check them again.
