[iyonix-support] Cheap widescreen monitor

In case this should interest or benefit anyone...

I've just bought a 20" widescreen monitor from ebuyer for GBP104.99
delivered. It's a DGM L-2041W. Its native resolution is 1680 * 1050.
I connected it up to the Iyonix and it just worked, although the MDF
needed a new entry to make best use of it - I was previously using
1280 * 1024, and so things initially looked somewhat squat :-)

The new MDF entry is this:

# Wide
startmode
mode_name:Wide
x_res:1680
y_res:1050
pixel_rate:142000
h_timings:112,248,0,1680,0,48
v_timings:3,38,0,1050,0,1
sync_pol:0
endmode

I have no idea how far from optimal it is, but it was my first guess,
and it just worked. The monitor adjusted itself immediately. The
horizontal frequency is about 68 kHz and the vertical frequency just
over 62 Hz. Along with the quoted 8 ms response time, I can't see
any flicker.

The display is big and crisp. I haven't seen any dead pixels yet.
It did expose a problem with the cables - I was using a monitor
switch, but I was able to see two ghosts just to the right of each
image. Going to just one cable and no switch, the ghosting is now
completely absent.

The only snag is that it's black, and it's the only black item in
a room full of beige equipment.

So there's a cheap option for anyone who's interested.

I have no connection with ebuyer except as a satisfied customer.
