I was only looking at subdirectories of the root directory. Their dotdot entries correctly point to a cluster number of "0" since there isn't a cluster number associated with the root directory. Subdirectories of lower level directories have correct cluster numbers. I hope I didn't cause any upset. BTW I also apologise if the threading of this message is wrong - I have deleted my copy of my own posting, so I'm "borrowing" from Martin's response.
