Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is a maximum line length to entries in the hosts
file (BootResources:!Internet.files.hosts)?

I've got a local server entry with numerous aliases configured for it.
However, I've just added a new entry (taking the line length over 255
charactesr) and now the entire line is ignored.

On removing the new entry, all the other aliases start working again - so I
presume there must be a 255 character limit or something....?

More than likely.

I'm pleased there seems to be some input validation and it didn't buffer overflow and crash.

Certainly. Having said that, the Internet stack is one area which
hasn't received much (AFAIK) attention on RISC OS 5, but which
ROL spent a great deal of time updating from the latest upstream
sources, adding robustness, removing old dependencies, not to
mention the !Configure stuff for it, etc, etc. It's also reasonably
independent from the rest of RISC OS, so it's a shame these
particular improvements aren't in RISC OS 5.
