I would hope the corresponding socket would in/output a stereo signal.
Mono mini-jack plugs are notably different to stereo even though they
both fit in the same hole.

There is only one speaker in the case, headphones have two, aux out
should be for the family stereo and the designers haven't heard of stereo
microphones.
