The GPL absolutely does not say that GPL code must not be sold.

It simply says that if you sell somebody a driver based on GPL code
you must give them (or offer to give them) the source code as well, and
allow them to use that code under the GPL which would include giving
to other people.

That may make it not economically viable to sell a driver based
on GPL code (as the first person you sell it to can take the
source and give it away) but it absolutely does not prohibit
the selling of the driver.
