Australian Centre for Sustainable Catchments:
Postgraduate research projects available



The Australian Centre for Sustainable Catchments
(ACSC), based at the Toowoomba campus of the
University of Southern Queensland (USQ), conducts
research aimed at improving the profitability and
sustainability of water and catchment management in
Australia, with a particular focus on Queensland
systems. One of the Centre's primary objectives is to
provide research which informs government policy and
policy implementation.

The ACSC offers research training opportunities for
postgraduate students from a variety of disciplines to
address the challenges of sustainable water and land
management in Australia. Funding is available to
support several new postgraduate research projects
within our key research areas. The ACSC invites
expressions of interest for potential research
students within our four key research programs:

1. Sustainable Water Use: develops solutions to
problems concerning water quality in rivers and
reservoirs, urban stormwater runoff, wastewater
treatment and reuse, and groundwater hydrodynamics and
quality;

2. Sustainable Landscapes: conducts cross-disciplinary
research to improve sustainable management of natural
resources, particularly biodiversity, in
human-dominated landscapes;

3. Climatology, Environmental Measurement & Modelling:
develops integrated environment models to provide
stronger predictive capacity for regional land and
water planning and management;

4. Spatial Analysis and Modelling: incorporates new
spatial modelling tools to support the development of
sustainable land and water management.
