Exchange will only run Forest prep if the user you are logged in as during
install has Schema Admin rights. If it does not, it will not prep the forest
automatically.
The Exchange tabs will also only show on the machine you have installed
Exchange on. To see it on other servers, you need to install Exchange Admin on
those machines

Exchange will run Forestprep during the installation, but it is preferred to do
it beforehand. Unless you will have a seperate domain, which contains no E2K
servers, only users requiring mailboxes are you needed to run domainprep.
Otherwise, you can get by only running ForestPrep. Forestprep includes running
Domainprep.
Are you viewing AD Users and Computers in the Exchange Menu or in Admin Tools??
After installing E2K, the AD Users and Computers MMC is customized for the
extra Exchange attributes and tasks. The one in Admin Tools needs have the
columns added to mirror the other. You should still see Exchange Tasks though.
Check the schema to see if the E2K classes and attributes were added
successfully.
To launch the Schema MMC, you need to register a .dll. Run 'regsvr32
schmmgt.dll', then you can load the console and view the schema.

I installed the exchange 2000 server on a windows 2000 member server, and
the domain controller and the isa server both are installed on a windows
2000 server on a separate computer. After the installation of the exchange
server the properties of the user in the active directory was not changed.
There is supposed to be some extra tabs in the properties of each user as
the schema is changed by the installation of the exchange 2000.
