Hi David, No problems with Version 3 or Version 4, *except* you should remove the USB virtual controller from the VM before installing. Also, if you upgrade to version 4 and you have a bunch of version 3 images that you're using, plug and play on the images may lead to some interesting experiences :-) You might want to recreate your images in version 4. Also, there is a small bug with version 4 that forgets to add a link in the config file to support the floppy disk, so you need to add that manaully. Otherwise, I think version 4 is a lot more stable. Make sure you disable all the VMware services in the Services applet, and that you disable the virtual interfaces in the Network and Dial-up Connections window, unless you need to use those (I've never needed to use those interfaces in any of my test labs, so I always disable them). Disabling the services and the interfaces will help you avoid more "interesting experiences" ;-) However, if you need them, don't disable them! I think VMware is miraculous! It removes all excuses for not testing our your configs before moving them into production. I would consider it clear evidence of lack of "due diligence" not to test everything in a VMware lab before implementing it (or a physical lab if you've recently won the lottery :) ).
