Tom, I know what you mean -- trying to program the ISAPI Filter for ISA 2004 has been a real challenge. There is so much you need to take into consideration and I have been finding bugs all over the place. -Wayne -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 8:30 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: WAAAY OT: Oulook 2003 install http://www.ISAserver.org Hi Wayne, Just some gallows humor. I always get like that when I'm heads down in a book. And this ISA 2004 is kicking my ***. There's just so much material to cover, so many scenarios, so many ways to use it to secure the network, that the darned thing is going to end up as a three book set of 3000 pages if I don't put the breaks on things. Thanks! Tom www.isaserver.org/shinder Get the book! Take my word on it -- if you can't upgrade -- there is other ways to excel. -Wayne -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 8:03 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: WAAAY OT: Oulook 2003 install http://www.ISAserver.org Hi Fares, Thanks! I did see those articles but they were a bit fluffy in the specifics :) I guess I go ahead and bit the bullet this weekend and if you don't hear from me, it means I jumped out my office window :) Tom www.isaserver.org/shinder Get the book! To be sure, you can choose a custom installation, and select "use existing profile" to migrate your Outlook Profiles. The only case that I see problems for is if you are using outlook (98 or 2000 only?) in an internet mail only (IMO) setup. The workaround to most Outlook problems can be fixed by recreating your outlook profile. I would create a backup, and go for it. Good luck. -Fares -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 9:31 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] WAAAY OT: Oulook 2003 install http://www.ISAserver.org Hey guys, I don't support desktop systems, or haven't done so for many years, other than banging on Debi's monitor when her Word 2003 doesn't work (seems to fix it half the time ;-) I've installed Office 2003 on my own workstation *except* for Outlook 2003. I stayed with Outlook 2002 because its so mission critical to my work and if it broke, I'd be broke :) (OK, I could always wipe and reinstall, but I don't have extra cycles for that). Question: In order to install Outlook 2003 you have to uninstall Outlook 2002. When you uninstall Outlook 2002, are the User Profiles removed? Or are they retained and you can then use them with Outlook 2003? I tried to look this up on the Microsoft site, but was unable to find a definitive statement regarding this issue. Thanks! Feel free to bash me for being a dope on this issue :) Tom www.isaserver.org/shinder Get the book!
