Hi,

Thanks for the clarification. It is a shame as we will know longer be able to
use the TMG/Edge configuration as we don't want to use Forefront Protection for
Exchange (yet).

Andrew.

(here's the relevant answer)

A1 - no; a TMG license does not give you licenses for Exch Edge or FSE
A2 - yo uneed to get and apply the Exch Edge and FSE licene separately from TMG.

Subject: [isalist] TMG 2010 and Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange server

Hi all,

I am starting a brand new TMG server with Exchange Edge components to act as an
edge server and OWA publishing system.

According to information at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee207141.aspx we need to install the
edge components, followed by Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server.

I installed Exchange 2007 Edge rolls on the server, and activated the software
using my Exchange 2007 Standard product keys. I then completed the second part
of the install, which was to install Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange
server. This completed successfully, however, when I went into the Forefront
console, I was told I was in evaluation mode.

As far as I know, I am licensed for TMG Standard but not Forefront Protection
2010 for Exchange. I have a solution upstream of this server that will be
doing antivirus/spam scanning already. My questions are:

- Is the Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange servers install
required for TMG to work with the Exchange Edge components?

- If yes, will I need to get a license for this, or will the TMG
install license this appropriately?

Thanks.
Andrew.
