What is the solution to this problem? I've got a client that upgraded to
SP2 with the same http filter problems. It's denying access to certain
SSL websites.

Ok boys, the Direct Access thing was part 1. Part 2 can be found here:

The filter information field was pretty helpful to troubleshooting HTTP
Security Filter issues. But now the compression stuff eats up the line
and we lose the some or all of the useful information from the HTTP
Security Filter.
