Re: Restrict apps for FW Client?

That statement brings up two questions:
1. where did you edit the mspclnt.ini; %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Firewall
Client\Internal_Setup or %AllUsersProfile%\%UserName%?
2. why don't you want to use the ISA MMC?

Manually editing the mspclnt.ini is not supported, BTW; any changes you want
to make for a particular client should be made in a wspcfg.ini for each app
and stored inthe same path as the app.

Hi Jim

I have read the article you suggested and have just one more question.

Can I essentially create an MSPCLNT.INI file that has the following
content (apart from the [COMMON] section etc):

[Common Configuration]
NameResolution=L
Disable=1
[outlook]
Disable=0

In other words, I remove ALL applications that have been added via the
ISA MMC, and add a Generic rule for the FW Client NOT to allow ANY
application, except OUTLOOK, to make use of the FW Client.

The thing is, I have tried this and it doesn't seem to work (I.e. my MSN
Messenger still works etc). Do you have any ideas on this for me please?

Cheers
William R.

Hi there

I want to deply the Firewall Client, but I want to be able to exact
STRICT
control over which applications are permitted to use the FW Client's
seamless connectivity features. In other words, I don't want every
single
little application installed on a user's workstation to start using the
direct access to the Internet.

Now I know that I can play with the Firewall Client Configuration
settings
on my ISA Server, but what I don;t know is what all the possible
Application Keys mean, and also how to use them.

Would someone perhaps have any adive on this for me, please?

Cheers
William R.
