Most other companies that sell their software and "maintenance" include upgrades and tech support with the maintenance fee. Microsoft should offer free telephone support for the customer paying for "SA", and just change the name to Maintenance. Stay current, get free upgrades, let it laps, and you have to buy the new or upgrade version. That is what sucks, the companies that do that still have upgrade pricing. It is like going and buying a new car, and the dealer selling you an agreement that you pay 1/3 the total amount now, and one year from now and 2 years from now, and you can have a new car. But what if you only want one car, isn't there any trade in value? I guess ISA 2004 is worth the additional bucks! =0) Since they're a university, it was hella cheap! The expected price for this is $1499. There is no upgrade price. Microsoft wants to push SA. However, SA for ISA 2000 is about $575. $575 times 3 years is $1725. So, if you listen to their sales pitches about SA, you just wasted $226. How can any business afford to just throw away older versions of software, as that is exactly what Microsoft is asking you to do, stating it has no value? <RANT OFF> I have a client that I would love to put ISA 2004 when it comes out, but I could not wait 18 months for it, so they purchased ISA 2000. Now what, do I tell them to just throw that version away and purchase a new version? John Tolmachoff Engineer/Consultant/Owner eServices For You
