Or do you mean I should disable or remove the SMTP application filter?

Thanks

Socket pooling has been disabled, I don't have any SMTP packet filters
in place and the SMTP service is listening on the internal interface of
the firewall. The only server publishing rule I have is the Mail wizard
rule which is pointing to an IP on the external interface of the ISA
server and listening on the internal IP of the mail server. This rule is
using the SMTP protocol. Will disabling this one effect incoming mail
flow or am I in left field?

Thanks

Hi Marvin,

Disable all the other SMTP rules you have in place, and remove any SMTP
related packet filters you have, unless you're using the packet filter
approach to publishing the SMTP server. Make sure that socket pooling is
disabled for the SMTP service too.

Also, make sure the SMTP service is listening on the Internal interface
of the ISA firewall. Not "all IP addresses".

HTH,

Tom

Subject: [isalist] Problem creating SMTP Server Publishing Rule

http://www.ISAserver.org

In trying to follow documentation to create an SMTP server publishing
rule to create an SMTP filter and relay as listed here:

http://isaserver.org/tutorials/messagescreeneronfirewallpart2.html

I get an error stating:

ISA server cannot save the new object

There is already a rule that defines a mapping for the external port and
IP address specified.

I configure this rule with the following settings:

IP Address of internal interface of the ISA server.

IP on external interface of ISA server that handles mail.

Apply rule to SMTP server

Apply rule to Any request

I notice that there is already a Mail wizard rule in place, but it lists
the IP of the internal mail server and not the internal interface of the
ISA server.

I've followed the steps as outlined in part 1 of this article so what
could I be missing here?

Any feedbacks appreciated

Thanks
