"post-RTM" means anything that was dealt with after the product released (Released To Market). This seems to be the most likely candidate: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;297324 ..but you should go to : and choose "ISA Server" and enter "authentication" in the "Search for.." textbox. There are quite a few authentication problems that may or may not apply to you (difficult to say without your ISA details). Unfortunately, those dummies are also using Basic authentication over HTTP. Except that it's your boss that wants this, I'd strongly recommend that you don't access this site until they either: 1. use ANY other auth scheme or 2. restrict the connection to HTTPS Since I know the site is IIS-based, I also know this is easily done. What is your ISA patch level? There were some authentication issues that were solved post-RTM. My boss is trying to logon to a secured web site. Something has changed (I believe on the web server side) and now she gets an error 401.1 unauthorized user. I called the webmaster and they say it's our proxy server. I can bypass the ISA and it works.
