Interesting, I sure hope I haven't just put 12 little bits of 'trouble waiting
to happen', in the hands of users !
I've just started using some LinkSys stuff, ADSL2+ modems with VoIP port, some
Wireless access points and so far no issues, but it's early days yet !

OK, now the question begs to be answered. My experience with Linksys products
since Cisco bought them is gotten no where but worse.
I had an ongoing problem with their 3 parallel port print servers that used to
work great without a hitch but the newer versions (same model number newer
version number) would slowly start throwing errors and Linksys would keep
blaming the printer and then the software sending the jobs and then all of a
sudden they discontinue the product. I must of went through 6 print servers at
one client who had 3 in use and they would work great for about 9-12 months and
then over a period of about 3 months go from no errors to one error per week to
one error per day to multiple errors per day. I switched to Hawking and
actually suddenly a bunch of little complaints users had about slow printing
went away.
I have also had 4 of the desktop gigabit 8 port switches suddenly stop
responding, nobody home, each one after being in use for about 9 months.
Unfortunately, it was cheaper for me to buy a new one for the client than spend
an hour on the phone waiting to talk to some one I could understand. Power was
on, fan was on, but just quick working.
So, is it worth it to touch anything with a Linksys name on it anymore?

A lot of Netcomm stuff, is linksys rebadged, from the pic on CDW it's looks
very similar to the unit I have, and the spec's look pretty much identical as
well.
I've demo'ed it to a client this week, they have just asked me to supply 12,
one for each of there travelling sales people. I don't think you can go past
the no external power required, and how small and light it is.

So, it seems like the only place I could find the NetComm VPN100 is Down
Under. But here's a LinkSys version that does the same thing- and it is
only $70 USD.

At that price, I think I'm going to follow your lead and get one for all of
my traveling users. Most of my people have EVDO air-cards, but there are
only a few locations in the US where you get EVDO broadband speeds at this
point in the game, and they still utilize hotel connections. It makes a lot
of sense to use something like this all the time, regardless of local-net
issues.
