Hi Raj
I owe you an apology. You are quite correct. I unwiitningly took it for
granted that one would only install the Enterprise edition for the purpose
of creating an array even if does only have one server. There are
circumstances where installing a single server in to an array is
appropriate. Such as applying Enterprise wide policies as well as local
array ones to it. You can install the Enterprise Edition as a standalone too
(this was what I didn't take in to account previously) and under these
circumstances the Enterprise and Standard Edition requirements are identical
I believe. When creating an array though the rules are different. Windows
2000 Server or higher is required with an AD Forest. In addition the array
members must all be in the same AD domain (it can be mixed or native mode I
believe) and the same Windows 2000 Site. Although ISA, be it either edition,
can run standalone in an NT4 domain it will only actually install and run on
Windows 2000. NT4 is absolutely not an option for running ISA.
Bye for now.
Paul Lemonidis.
