Are you using Query Anaylzer to test the connection? Another way you can use 'Telnet' to see if can establish the connection (example: telnet <external ip> 1433). Since you have the right requirements: Firewall Client (installed) SQL Client Network Utilility (configured) ISA Packet Filter SQL Outbound (configured) Are you able to connect to the SQL server from the Public side of your firewall? -----Original Message----- From: Chris Bond [mailto:chris@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 9:22 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Re: Microsoft SQL Server Outbound Access http://www.ISAserver.org Already tried this get the following error message: SQL Server does not exist or access is denied ConnectionOpen(Connect()) ------- Original Message -------- To: David Dellanno <david@xxxxxxxxxx> From: Subject: [isalist] RE: Microsoft SQL Server Outbound Access Date: 15/08/01 01:08 http://www.ISAserver.org Ensure your TCP/IP and Alias are configured in the \'Client Network Utility\' Open SQL Server Client Network Utility Under General tab, ensure TCP/IP is enabled Select Alias tab Under Server Alias dialog box, type your server name (Friendly Name) Select under Network Library, TCP/IP radio button Under Connection Parameters, under Server name dialog box, type (FQDN or IP)and unselect Dynmically determine Port checkbox, ensure under Port Number port 1433 is listed, then click OK twice. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Bond [mailto:chris@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2001 7:43 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Microsoft SQL Server Outbound Access http://www.ISAserver.org Hi, For some reason Microsoft SQL Server Outbound Access using Enterprise Manager will not work. I have defined a Protocol Rule allowing SQL Server and also a Packet Filter for TCP Remote port 1433 and it still refuses to connect. All workstations are configured using SecureNAT if that makes any difference. Anybody got any ideas?
