I actually have a back to back setup which I really like. So, that's why
I thought it would be OK
To have them (Linux with send mail) in the dmz. I'll have to draw up
some pictures and decide form what

As a learning experience I would say yes, but for most installations, I
don't like putting anything in a DMZ. I don't see any point as ISA seems
to be pretty secure on it's own (No breakthroughs on any system I've
installed yet.
Personally I would put it behind the isa server and use it for spam
filtering rather than in the DMZ.

That is truly my main goal in life now, beyond finding any gigs or
projects!
However, since MSN switched it's mail around and stopped pop3 usage
(HTTP NOW), I don't like using them for any of my email via outlook
client. You can delete mail from your own mail folder unless you use the
web client, and you can't create any client side rules. Now that really
sucks. So, the point of getting my mail setup is to get ride of my
cismic@xxxxxxx account. Heck I have exchange 2000 and 2003 so, I need to
set them up and use my own mail servers. I've only used MSN for mail, I
don't ever use the dial up.

Hello All,
Now that w3k seems to have RPC Mail via HTTP, is it still a good idea to
have mail forwarders in the DMZ for a back to back setup? I've decided
to give Linux with send mail as relay machines a try. For not
particular reason I guess except that I wanted to learn how to utilize
send mail as relays to internal network.
So, to work on this I'm going to bring my entire super computer network
<grin> down tonight in about an hour or so to install this
configuration. Besides, I've not been home but 80 days in the last year!
Now that I have time on my hands I'm truly trying to get some
obligations complete!
