Hi,

First, thanks for all the replies

Now giving more info on the problem:

- i have 10 GB of free disk space on the disk that have the log files

- this is a remote office ISA that is acting as a proxy, don't publish
any server, it has a Site to Site VPN (with traffic allowed on just one
direction), what i mean is it gets quite few traffic (i installed on the
same day another server that is publishing several servers and has
permanent traffic without any problem)

- the log files are usually 3, 4 MB/day

So probably the problem is not logging to much traffic.

Best Regards

And to add to that, consider reducing what you're logging. Do you really
need to log all the Blaster traffic being blocked? Do you need to log
the NetBIOS broadcasts being blocked? There's a lot of garbage traffic
that you can prevent logging for by creating Access Rules and then
configuring the Access Rules to not log that traffic.

Take a look at the size of:
1 - the MSDE "master" database
2 - the total size of all active ISA logs

If either or both exceeds 2GB, you'll have to detach some of the
databases.
I have a script that can help you with this...

Subject: [isalist] ISA + MSDE Problem

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hi,

I have a ISA 2004 that has been working ok for a few months.

Yesterday the firewall service stopped, when i start it, it works for a
few minutes and stops again.

I get the following error message:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Firewall
Event Category: Log
Event ID: 8
Date: 11-02-2005
Time: 16:41:06
User: N/A
Computer: ISACEDAR
Description:
The Microsoft Firewall failed to log information to MSDE Database
ISALOG_20050211_FWS_001 in path E:\ISALogs\Firewall. The MSDE Error
description is: Could not find stored procedure 'sp_batch_insert'.. The
problem may be resolved by restarting the MSSQL$MSFW service. For more
information about this event, see ISA Server Help.

Restarting the MSSQL$MSFW service don't resolve the problem, the
solution was to stop using MSDE for logging and use files.

Anyone has any idea of what the problem/solution might be?

best regards,

Nelson Camacho
