http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- Well I guess all depends on what a user is looking for. If you want to have the better web content filter software in the market today, I'm convinced you should go with websense. But sometimes having the better is not what your business needs or can afford. If my business is newspaper delivery on a 3 blocks area, common sense tell me that probably a Chevrolet Aveo or a bicycle will have more sense than a Buggati. Regards Diego R. I sat through a webcast yesterday about SurfControl being bought out by WebSense, and their roadmap for future development. A decision we have to make reasonably soon is whether to migrate to WebSense, continue using the current version of SurfControl (only a short-term solution), or search for an replacement web filter. If WebSense really requires two servers to operate efficiently, then maybe we should be looking for an alternative. -----Original Message----- From: isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of D PIETRUSZKA USWRN INTERLINK INFRA ASST MGR Sent: Tuesday, October 09, 2007 3:07 PM To: isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isalist] Re: ISA 2006 + Websense http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- I have 2 dell blade 1855 (4gb and 2 xeon) working as an ISA2006 array with websense filtering service running on them and everything work fine, without any slowness. The difference is that I run the policy and log services on another server, that is the heavier part of websense. That array is serving about 2000 users. I would try moving the policy and log services to another box, to see if that fix your issue, even if that cannot be your final scenario you will be able to see if that is cause of the problem. I'm using websense since long time ago and never had performance problems (ISA2000, 2004, 2006). Regards Diego R. I am installing ISA 2006 with Websense to provide Internet blocking/reporting. I installed an initial test last week, which whilst working, is not perfect - all components are on the ISA box, and it is noticeably slowing down performance (how someone hasn't noticed I will never know). I have read through all the documentation several times, and have another setup to try, which includes: * Two servers, both joined to the domain. * 1 ISA 2006 server with KAV plugin installed, and the Websense plug-in. * 1 Websense server consisting of the main Websense components, barring the network agent, or any log-on agent (as ISA should provide this to Websense). I will also install reporting tools on this system. * Both servers are dual Zeons at 2GHZ with 2GB of RAM, we are around 150 users, but moderate Internet load as we have a news website. Is anyone using a similar config, or does anything look obviously wrong there? Thanks.
