If SurfControl really has stated that you should disable the firewall service 
(show me the link), then I know exactly who to sic on them (besides me, of 
course).

Use the "single network adapter" template and move along smartly.

I'm curious as to why you would say this Tom. Surfcontrol have told me
that I definitely need ISA.

Do you think installing ISA in caching-mode will cure my problems with
picking up user names from Active Directory under Citrix Metaframe?
