I would just like another level of protection. ISA has served us well, but is the only layer of protection we have now. This is for our office - not home. I hear good things about pix but am not sure if this is going to make things too complex to manage. Thanks for any further thoughts. -----Original Message----- From: Troy Radtke [mailto:TRadtke@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, October 11, 2004 10:29 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Hardware firewall to sit in front of ISA? http://www.ISAserver.org Is there any particular reason you want a hardware firewall in front of the ISA? I'd suggest el cheapo used PIX off of ebay. If you're worried about mass packet processing, that's the way to go. Not nearly as buggy once you start hammering away at it with a production network. Use the best tool for the job. Like using that Belkin as an actual hammer... =?) If this is a "home" thing, then just run the ISA..... Don't make thing more complex than you have to. -----Original Message----- From: Bryan D. I have a belkin 4 port router / firewall ($50) at home and it is soooo close to being what I want. The immediate issues I see is that the virtual servers cannot specify which external IP it is listening on... oh and there is a pretty mean bug that is preventing me from setting the ip properly on the virtual server. Beyond those issues it is highly configurable (and could likely be fixed with a firmware update) and I am looking for something similar. Any suggestions are appreciated... ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: tradtke@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: bandrews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
