Re: Fault tolerance

Hey thanks Dave!
To implement or manage AD in the organization is a separate group and if I
need to do bring up servers with AD, I need to do lot more to integrate my
ISA servers with existing AD structure....infact I am not sure wether Iam
allowed to that or not. Well I will try to persue that.
You mentioned replicating publishing rules...how that will happen in
workgroup environment then.
Thanks again.

I C what you are doin'. The array config, I would think it would reduce the
overhead of administration keeping your design more centralized when you
increase in growth, but your stand-alone config will still work for non-ad
environment.

you bet....Iam still testing it in Lab setup. But when you say I need to
have array configured for this....Imean I need to have AD for that and
currently all the ISA servers are on memeber servers. Well I can do that
with AD environment but lot more to configure and I need to do more testing
to know of any problems with AD and ISA.
Thanks

In theory it should work. But I would think you would need to have the ISA
servers configured as an Array to replicate the publishing rules accross the
cluster group. This is definitely a lab setup then shoot for production on
the fly.

Hmmmm.......
What I thought is that I will confgiure NLB on external NIc of ISA server
and configure the DNS server to resolve all applications to clustered IP on
ISA servers. Is that not possible??? I have never tried it though.

I believe that NLB for ISA was more intent for the Private Area Network and
not design at this point to support the Public Area Network

Jim,
Each ISA is configured to secure publish 2 applications using one ip. So Iam
using host headers and port 80 for the first connection but secondary
connections are secure connections using 443. Each web server is firewall
client.
I want to configure fault tolerance on extenal side of ISA using NLB but was
not sure how should I do it and how should I configure our external DNS for
this.

Thanks
Shobha

ISA in and of itself offers no fault tolerance for web / server publishing.
You don't mention whether or not you're listening on a "per-IP" basis, so I
can't say if NLB is of any use to you.

Any best practice to fault tolerance ISA servers which are configured for
secure web publishing. There are 3 ISA servers configured for publshing 6
secure web applications using server publishing.

Thanks.
