Hi Mark,
Send me your script with out any private or company data in it.
I'll load it on both of my ISA machines and see what I come up with.
I'm using a back to back setup .

INTERNET >> ISA >> DMZ (WITH SMTP RELAY) >> ISA >> INTERNAL.
Lets see if we can get this working for you.

Thank you,
Joseph

Thanks, but that did not help either.

Hi Mark,
Try running the script utilizing "runas" to impersonate and then select the
local admin and password for your isa box this should get around possible
permissions issues.

Thank you,

Joseph

Jim,

I do have a packet filter in place. DNS also resolves the SMTP server ok.
The script just fails to send mail using CDOSYS when running locally on the
ISA box. If I run it on a W2K box behind ISA then everything works.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Mark

Do you have a packet filter allowing TCP-25 outbound?
Protocol rules have no effect on ISA-based services / applications.

It is external. It works from behind ISA, just not on ISA using my remote
SMTP server.

Thanks,

Mark

Where is the SMTP server you're trying to hit; internal or external to ISA?

Subject: [isalist] CDOSYS and ISA server

http://www.ISAserver.org

I have a written VBS script that does some monitoring and other admin stuff
and at times I configure it with CDOSYS to send me an email when certain
thing occur. Everything works great on any server, W2K, W2K3, XP, etc,
except ISA Server on W2K.

Is this just a config problem on my ISA or will it not work on ISA? Anyone
tried this before. The error I get only on ISA server is "CDO.Message.1
error '80040213' The transport failed to connect ".

Below is the snippet from my script that uses CDOSYS:

---------------
Set objEmail = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
objEmail.From = "admin email address"
objEmail.To = "my email address"
objEmail.Subject = "FAILED Process for " & ComputerName
objEmail.Textbody = " The following process has failed for " &
Computername & " : " & sensorProcess

objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configu
ration/sendusing") = 2 '1=use local SMTP server; 2= use remote SMTP server

objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configu
ration/smtpserver") = "smtp server"

objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Item("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configu
ration/smtpserverport") = 25
objEmail.Configuration.Fields.Update
objEmail.Send
----------------

Beast regards,

Mark
