I can see it now, some thirteen year old kid will get busted for 'computer terrorism' by running some 'cool script' his buddy sent him IRC. He'll take the FBI most wanted pages and replace this images with Disney carton characters. I can just see the headlines now: 13 year old computer terrorist captured today after a 49 state manhunt or maybe Computer terrorist sentenced to life imprisonment, Sentence commuted until after high school graduation Or FBI capture latest most wanted fugitive in his bedroom of family home, mistakenly wounding family dog in process. Father promises to sue Fed's for hurting dog. It is a sad, sad state we are permitting our government to spiral down to. Orson Wells had a pretty good description of where we are headed in his novel 1984. Police states, where freedom was redefined to be what ever the government gave you as the definition. Anyone wanting something more than they were given by the government end up ostracized from society. Being ostracized by society made you a criminal. Being a criminal, you were then imprisoned. All in the governments efforts to 'protect the people'. I remember as a teen-ager/young adult I was some what sheltered from the real world by my father, who only had my best interests at heart. And I love him all the more for his thoughts and efforts. But there is fine and thin lined balance that needs to be met if our people are to be a part of the larger society of the planet earth. We are a target because we are the freest entity on the planet, yet we do not respect our own people's wishes. We have within our own borders, revolutionaries who wish to over throw our government (don't think so? Remember April 19, 1995). The government calls them revolutionaries and terrorists, they call themselves freedom fighters. Does anyone recall Nicaragua? Or Viet Nam? Or Korea? Sometimes we (the American Government as a representative of the people) do things in the 'real world,' and then don't tell the American People about it for the same reasons as my father's protective umbrella he held over me while I was growing up. I have had the opportunity to serve my people, my government, my flag and the ideals all of these things represent. I have seen parts of the reality that exists outside of our borders, unfiltered by CNN or MSNBC. I have participated in the events our government called for, that were then hidden form the people to shelter them. I have seen, first hand, the terror Americans delivered unto Americans in Oklahoma City in the name of Justice. I no longer like what America is becoming. For over two centuries we were the promised land of freedom and tolerance. Tell me where the tolerance is now that we have hate crimes against American Citizens within our own borders being dealt out by American Citizens because of fear. Fear is a thief in the night that takes away the very thing we hold most dear, our freedoms. As we continue to fear we permit our 'fathers' to protect us, to shelter us, to provide us with an umbrella and blinders. At the same time we are giving up our freedoms. We can no longer defend ourselves, because our 'fathers' have taken our guns, in an effort to protect us from ourselves. We can no longer speak freely against our 'fathers' actions, because it is against the good of society to question those whom we have given the heavy mantle of protecting us. A democracy is not America. A republic is not America. A Democratic Republic is no longer where America is headed. America is headed into a land of dismal socialism. We will have sides to choose from (republican or democrat, baked potato or french fries), but it will be the same either way. We will have freedoms, as they are spoon fed to us. We will have no more great minds, for they will be squashed in school for being different. Fight against this, fight against any future where Americans deliberately are raped of their freedoms and don't even know it. Encourage legislation that fights internal terrorism without silencing the voices of those who are unhappy with the end product. Encourage Americans to return our country to us. We the people do so decree that we will take back our country, our freedoms, our ways of life. We the people demand that we return to the land of freedom. We the people recognize all men as being created equal, not under God, but under the stars of the heavens above, so any man woman or child my have the choice of what God, if any, they wish to worship. We the people will no longer recognize a person for the color of their skin, or their eyes or their hair, but instead by their words, their actions and their deeds. And so long as the words, actions and deeds cause no harm to others or restrict the freedoms of others then those deeds are fair, just and acceptable. We, as individual citizens don't have to like the words, action or deeds, and if we are so inclined are welcome to stand against them, so long as we do not use our words, or actions or deeds to infringe upon the freedoms others. Find some solid ground in the ideals and freedoms men and women before you have died to defend. Make a stand on that solid ground to defend it. Be prepared to leave your own legacy of freedom for the next person to share that ground with you. Be not afraid of the night, but of the light you try to bring to banish the night.
