First, I would agree with Cait.  One working dog is best apart from if you
have a small overlap which sometimes happens.  Ideally, I think it's great
if you can use your old dog to help train a young one before said old dog
retires.  Cos they learn so so much off each other.

Cait, I've updated on Kizzy on Paws4Thought but I'll send one here as well
seeing as you've asked.

She's still not had her first season so I'm waiting for this before I spay 3
months after.  I want to wait 3 months after the season to give her hormones
proper chance to develop and let her grow properly etc.  there's a lot of
research out there now that suggests that by neutering early, we are
subjecting our dogs to greater risk of developing conditions such as bone
cancers etc.

Anyway, we've started on the harness now, and the other day I was able to
get from my house to Martin's house which involves 2 15 minute walks and two
trams.  So apart from skipping two down kerbs and trying in vain to lick
some dirt off the floor of the tram, she didn't make any other mistakes so I
was pretty pleased.

However, Kizzy dog did disgrace herself yesterday by pinning down a small
terrier in doggy day care and showing her teeth when it barked at her and
tried to take a ball.  They made it out to be pretty serious but to be
honest, I think she was trying more than anything to put it in it's place.
She didn't snap or try to bite.  Just warned it.  But while Hope is allowed
to go back, Kizlet isn't I'm afraid.  It doesn't really matter too much as I
was just looking at it as a possibility for if I have to go over to my
parents' place in an emergency for the day, which does sometimes happen now
Mum's health is getting worse with her dementia etc.  Sometimes Dad does
struggle with her if she gets herself in a particular frame of mind and so
on.  Anyway, today we passed 3 yappy small dogs with Kizzy in harness and
she didn't react.  Just looked and walked past.  Then we went to the park
and just did some leash work and she barked at two yappersafter they barked
at her first.  So it's interesting that the barking isn't happening in
harness but is happening on the leash if they bark at her first.  If they
don't bark first she will walk past no problems.  As always, any tips and
ideas gratefully received.  But though this did happen at day care, I was
pleased that she walked past a few of them today without reacting.  But am
just keeping an eye open nevertheless so to speak.

Best
