[interfacekit] The Big Ping, part 2

Guys,

First off, my apologies for being so invisible lately. Mail has been a
bear, but I think I may finally have it worked out (knock on wood). =P

Second up, although I've been very quiet, I've been hard at work on yet
another tool. This one takes a stripped down list of function
declarations and generates a full pass-through class implementation.
I'll be doing a bit of testing on it this week, and hope to have it
checked in and some explanation of how it works and what the heck it's
for shortly thereafter.

After that is finished, I'll be updating the schedule/site generation
tool so that we'll have a page which lists directly who has been
assigned what, and where they are on it.

Third, speaking of who's doing what, etc., here is the list of what I
know regarding that:

Jeremy Rand
        CppUnit wrangling
Staffan Hellstrom
        BPolygon
Issac Yonemoto
        BRegion
        BList
Ulrich Wimboeck
        BListItem
        BListView
        BOutlineListView
Steve Vallee
        BDataIO
        BMallocIO
        BMemoryIO
        BPositionIO
        UTF8 support functions
        BString & helper functions
        BStopWatch
DarkWyrm
        app_server R&D
Graham Gilmore
        BBlockCache

I'm fairly certain I'm missing a few things, so please speak up if
you're working on something not listed here. *Especially* if you're not
even listed here, for reasons discussed below.

Please mail me ASAP with your status on each of your tasks. Something
short and sweet is all that's necessary. For example:

BFoobar
     Functional spec: done
     Use cases: done
     Unit tests: in progress

And so on.

Fourth, anybody who isn't listed above needs to choose a task and let me
know what it is. Anybody I haven't heard from by next Monday (March 4)
will be removed from this list. Of course, this does not apply to the
one or two non-contributing lurkers I've added and "visiting
dignitaries" from other teams. ;)

Why am I doing this? It's part of an overall effort to get the project
a bit more ship-shape. There was a huge amount of interest in the
project in the beginning, and some of the folks that were in that first
wave have since dropped off. This is a list for contributing team
members, so I'm doing a little house keeping. =)

Fifth, there's been a lot of discussion lately among the project
administrators about team leading issues. Given my sporadic
availability, I thought I should check in with everybody about how you
all feel I'm doing. Is there anything I could be doing to make your
work easier? Is there anything I'm doing which is making your work
unnecessarily harder? I think I've played it pretty loose so far; is
that working for everyone, or should I be more hands-on? Any comments
on my leadership at all are welcome, and not just now: if there are
problems, I can only fix what I know about, and I'd rather know sooner
than later. =)

Last of all, after I've finished my schedule tool modifications, I'll be
diving into the integration work. I've been itching to do this stuff
for a long time; it'll be nice to finally wade into the code. =)

Thanks,

e
