An idea (I don't know if this has been bounced around yet...) Should maybe
the registrar go around and check md5 checksums periodically? It would
log any aberrations and alert the SU (if it's on high secrurity mode) or
be able to produce the log on demand... This would a long way to
preventing, for example, viruses which latch themselves onto programs. It
would also encourage software developers to include the md5 checksums so
that transmission of software over potentially insecure channels (such as
the internet) could be safeguarded.
