My proposal would be to ban keyboards with German layout. ;-)
Seriously, for programming and TeXing they're far inferior -- all those
often used characters must be accessed with this strange Alt-Gr
modifier...

The only solution is to support localization for shortcuts. I hope the YT
guys think of that...
For the meantime it helps, when the application in question allows for
customization of shortcuts.
