Afghanistan will have its 'deadly' winter within next four weeks or so, thus this could be one time line strategically important. US/UK already sent in 'elite unit' forces and said to be hunting around OBL and Al-Queda/Taliban leaders, but seems even these elite units will be 'in-mobilisable' when winter comes around. So the time left is short, within 4 weeks, combination tactics of 'elite commandos' and '(probably very selective) bombardments' could 'smoke out' the targets - or not. Then, if mission failed - in winter - I don't know how they would do things. Wait until next spring? - or do 'searchings' more cautiously? By all means, 4 weeks from now - this can be one reference line on the calender. A.
