Hello Tony,
I got the KNFB Reader. In my opinion the capabilities of this product are
greatly overstated. In spite of what others think about it, I think it has
a long way to go before it can perform very basic task. For instance, I was
unable to read medicine lables (here in Colombia medications come in boxes
not in bottles). I couldn't read invoices printed in small papers. The
orientation of the camera is very difficult to get in order to obtain a good
recognition.
In my opinion the best reading machine is Kurzweil 1000, but obviously there
is the issue of portability. But if this is not an issue go for it.
The ipal is very very interesting but it is not as portable as the KNFB
reader or the Textscout.
Regarding the Texscout, I played with its demo a few days ago. I think that
they have a very clever way to help you with the orientation of the camera.
What I dind't like about it was the voices it comes with. IN that respect
KNFB reader is better because it comes with Eloquence, which is my favorit
voice.

of the three products you mmention and your instantaneous reading
criteria, based on what I have heard so far, which isn't as much as some
of you out there, I would say the eyePal comes out on top - followed by
TextScout. (I haven't heard all of the July/August Info-Tech yet. If I
had, I might hesitate to opine.)

Talking of The Eyepal, Textscout and the KNF reader.
Only in terms of reading back to us that ticks all the boxes with regard
