i am not sure i understand your comment. yes, of course, ypserv was
binding to the imaps port and that was the problem. but this should not
happen, right? when i stopped ypserv, restarted inetd and then started
ypserv, the binding was to a different port and things are all fine. but
if i reboot the machine, there is a (small?) chance that the same thing
can happen again. this is really a bug, no? is there something specific
you are looking for in the logs?
