or sshd anywhere..

did you install them ?

have a look at the following url on how to install them or check whether you
have installed them.

http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/demos/temp/tutorial/SoftwareMgr/

if not installed - install them.

furtherly read

http://runslinux.net/tech/ssh/node16.html

as i suggested earlier, avoid telnetd :-)

In my humble opinion enabling telnet might not be a right option, your box
becomes vulnerable.

Go for ssh.

#sshd start
starts ssh daemon ( must be root to do the same)

#telnetd start
starts telnet daemon ( must be root again )

use
#mmc
brings you the Mandrake Control Center in console if you do not have gui up,
else brings a neat gui. That should help you in enabling sshd at startup.

You might want to tweak your startup script too :-)

hope that helps
