Just another way to change the root passwd.
I am not sure whether you will be able to do "linux
single" in RH Gnu/Linux to boot in single user mode
(It has failed for me). If you have rescue floppy,
boot from it and edit /etc/passwd file.
Edit the second column marked "x" and remove it. Then
reboot the system and when you get the login prompt,
type "root" and you will get the shell prompt. Then
change the root password using 'passwd' command.
