When I start GNU parted, it says some warning.

Why is Linux wrongly detecting the geometry? Also in
the recent days (slackware and gentoo) I get a
different layout in `cfdisk /dev/hda`. Between each
successive partition cfdisk (or fdisk) shows some free
space left (small negligible size). I'm not sure why,
bcoz when I created the partitions last I didn't left
any free space. Is this the symtom of wrong geometry
detection by Linux?
Or should I append the hdx=xxx args to kernel as
`parted` complains? But I didn't had this problem
before (Not h/w change too).
